Johan was pleased that Dee made it to the door but he looked to be in a bad state, legs shaking and grabbing onto the door for added support. The poor man. Johan instantly went to help put an arm around Dee, as he stepped inside and closed the door behind them both.
"Here, let me help. You can lean on me for support."
The Swede wanted to help his friend and possible future band mate to the nearest soft couch or bed.
If Johan did become the lead guitarist for Kuro and they were offered a spot on an actual tour, then it would only be a matter of time before he found himself in this kind of situation. Preparing for a possible tour was actually why Dee signed up for physical therapy sessions in the first place. That, and wanting to walk down the aisle at his own wedding…
At the moment, though, as he put an arm over Johan’s shoulder, he had his doubts. Physical therapy was relentless. And his muscles were incredibly weak.
“…thank you.” He leaned on Johan.
Wrapping an arm around Dee, Johan could easily feel his bones underneath his clothes. He was frighteningly light if you weren’t expecting it.
Fortunately, a large sprawling sectional sofa wasn’t far from the door. It was big enough that multiple people could lay down on it without crowding each other, and was covered with plenty of pillows and throw blankets. Their living room was cozy and inviting.
“Like I said… they worked muscles I didn’t think I still had…”
"You don't need to thank me, Dee. It's what friends are for."
The guitarist walked with Dee towards the nearest comfortable chair, which was the sectional sofa, big enough for the Swede and his friend to sit on. At least Dee's place was cozy and inviting.
"Let me get you down on this chair---like this. Are you comfy?"
Johan slowly putting Dee down onto the chair gently, letting go so the man didn't topple off onto the floor. He seemed stable enough but Johan knew his muscles weren't working properly.
Dee was very used to plopping down on that couch. He and Jay spent a lot of time hanging out together on it. And he got some of his best writing done there. (As evidenced by the sheer number of Dee’s notebooks scattered on the coffee table.)
“As comfy as I can be..”
Those thin limbs were still shaking as he adjusted himself as best he could. He was a little embarrassed, but as Johan just said, what were friends for.
“You… you said you knew some massage stuff… that could help?”
Johan was happy Dee was now sitting as opposed to standing with his limbs shaking like a leaf trying to support his fragile body. The poor man. Johan shaking his head and putting a hand on Dee's shoulder in support.
"There's no need to feel embarrassed, Dee. You're in good hands and---talking of hands, I can offer some light relief on your tired muscles and joints."
The Swede smiling, as he pulled out some lotions and oils from his jeans pockets. These would help in easing his hands over Dee's body.
The sectional was large enough to stretch out on, which was exactly what Dee decided to do. Turning and lifting his legs up, at least today, felt like climbing a mountain. But eventually, he made it there. If there was anywhere Johan should start, it would be there.
Depending on the angle he needed, Johan could either sit on the sofa itself or on the coffee table in front of it. He'd have free access to some thin, bony and very sore legs.
Johan would be patient and caring as he could around Dee because he knew the man was quite fragile due to his condition. Once he got settled into position, Johan sat down at the coffee table in front so he could reach and get his hands on all he needed. Dee's legs being bony and sore. Poor guy.
"Are you comfortable enough? I'm going to heat some oil up in my palms then spread it over your legs."
Well, his legs being bony was normal. His legs being sore… okay, that was fairly normal too. But they ached a lot more than usual after his first day of physical therapy.
“Yeah… thanks.” He offered a weak smile to the guitarist. “Sorry if it feels… weird…”
Someone giving casual massages probably didn’t wrap their hands around atrophied muscles all that often. At least, not like Dee’s. But the physical therapist recommended massage as a way to work out cramps, keep limbs limber and reduce pain. As long as Johan wasn’t going overboard on the pressure, he didn’t need to worry about hurting him. (Dee wasn’t worried about being hurt either.)
"Nothing about this feels weird at all. Just let me know if you're not comfortable, or if any part of you aches or hurts."
Johan wanted Dee to feel comfortable and not awkward at all. They were friends--band mates, so this kind of behaviour was totally normal in the guitarist's eyes. Johan heated up the oil to a reasonable and safe temperature, smearing some over his palms, rubbing them together then slowly applying pressure to Dee's legs. Soft and light at first, trying to gauge what the man liked.
"How does this feel?"
The Swede's oiled palms sliding up Dee's legs in a rhythmic motion.
Johan felt the leg tense under his touch so focused on that part of his muscle, working his strong guitarist's fingers onto that spot. He smirked a little at Dee's response, happy he was able to help the man.
"Don't let your fiancé here you make these noises around me or he may get jealous."
Of course, Johan was only lightly teasing as band mates do. This was more about easing up Dee's aching body and offering up the man some light relief.
Dee laughed. “The physical therapist said the same thing.”
Though, unlike right now, Jay was with him at the time. (He stayed with Dee at every medical appointment, for emotional support reasons. The singer’s courage could only stretch so far sometimes.)
“Jay told the guy, ’oh, trust me, I’ve heard better,’ and I think… one of the nurses just about peed herself laughing…”
Johan put his phone away and ordered another round of hot beverages for both himself and Rex, who was leafing through a bass guitar magazine on their table. It would be a little while until Dee came through the door with his new wheelchair so Johan made sure to hold the seat for him. The booths were large enough so that someone in a wheelchair could manoeuvre in front of the table.
"I've invited Dee over to share food and drink with us. He's bringing his keyboard since he's said he's been working on some new music."
The fact that Dee so readily agreed to go meet the guys for dinner was all the proof Jay needed that things were going in the right direction. The more he used the chair, the more confident he was becoming in it.
"Do you want to come too?" He asked his fiancé.
"Nah. The guys want to play D&D as we drive tomorrow, so I need to finish up this battle map." He chuckled softly. "Bring me back an order of those pancake puppies?"
"Anything you want."
The restaurant was just on the other side of the hotel parking lot, so it wasn't far. It was late enough that the restaurant wasn't very crowded, so he saw their booth the minute he got in the door.
"Hey!" He waved.
Carefully, he maneuvered his chair so that he came up next to the table. It was a little low, but that wasn't going to be a problem. He'd been experimenting with the seat lift modes in multiple hotel rooms now. With the push of a button, the seat lowered and extended, making it easier to fit on the end of their booth.
"...have you already ordered?" He asked, pulling out a couple of his notebooks.
Johan was about to get up and use the bathroom when he spotted Dee wheeling into the restaurant, managing to pilot the chair just fine. Rex looked up and smiled at their singer, taking a sip of his drink.
"Dee, glad you could make it. You're really getting the hang of your new chair. No, we've not ordered any food yet because we wanted to wait for you."
Rex offered Dee a wave as he passed around a few menus.
"I'll be back just need to use the bathroom."
Johan disappeared for a few moments before coming back and sitting back down.
Forget looking at the menu. If Johan and Rex wondered how Dee could have forgotten to eat, they were about to get a good idea.
By the time Johan got back, Dee had his notebooks open to pages of sheet music that he'd meticulously scrawled down. He had them stacked, piano at the start, the beginnings of a bass line and drum line, multiple strings...
"It's a ballad..." he proclaimed excitedly. "After everything that happened recently. With Damien, my chair, even the concussion... I was trying to put all of my feelings into something musical... it's not finished yet. I'm thinking of adding a whole long section at the end with another vocalist... maybe Raev, with his high range... and it will definitely need a guitar solo here.."

"What's your comfiest position to lay down on? Because then I know you won't be in pain or having to shift around getting comfortable."
